FAQs

What are some benefits of consuming my placenta?

We cannot guarantee any particular benefit or outcome from consumption, but utilizing your placenta postpartum may help with things like milk production, hormone and mood stabilization, pain relief, energy boost, iron restoration, growth of hair and nails, etc.

What are the risks of consuming my placenta?

There are very few risks involved in consuming your placenta. The biggest risks would come from consuming a placenta that has not been stored or prepared properly. Be sure to follow instructions on how to store your placenta until your specialist picks it up.

What is the recommended dosage?

While there is no standard dosing, it is typically recommended that you start by taking 3 capsules in the morning and 3 in the evening for the first two weeks postpartum. After two weeks, you can cut back dosing as you see fit. 

Can I consume my placenta if I have Group B Strep?

Yes! Please notify your specialist so that we can steam your placenta and clean it specifically to kill any possible bacteria. Otherwise, it is considered safe to consume.

When is it unsafe to encapsulate my placenta?

How should I store my placenta after birth? 

It is not safe it consume your placenta if you have a placenta or uterine infection, HIV, or Hepatitis A, B, or C. 

You will need to get your placenta on ice or in the refrigerator within 30 minutes of being born. 

If you are birthing in a hospital, bring a cooler with you with a food storage container and make sure the cooler is consistently filled with ice until your specialist arrives.
